Christian Education

Theology: “Only be careful and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them slip from your heart as long as you live.  Teach them to your children and to their children’s children after them” (Deut. 4:9).

 

The Mission of the Education Committee of the Vestry is to:

 

* Coordinate the planning, programming and administration of all matters related to Christian Education within the Church of St. Simon.  That is Organize Christian Education for Youth and Adults in the Parish

 

* Promote the educational Ministry of the Church within the framework of our being ambassadors for Christ and called into the  Ministry of reconciliation.

 

* Proclaim the Gospel and cultivate worship.

 

* Promote the idea of living as heavenly citizens while remaining citizens of the earth.

 

* Organize Sunday School for children and youth of the Parish (curriculum, recruit suitable teachers and assist in projects).

* Advise the Vestry of the possibility of extending Christian Education into the Community.

 

* Assist the Rector in many various programs for children.

 

* Prepare articles for Church Newsletter related to Christian Education.

 

* Assist in the preparation of children and adults for Confirmation.

 

* Advise the Vestry on the effectiveness of Christian Education programs

 

* Give full report on Christian Education at the Annual Meeting

 

* Participate in Diocesan training programs for Church School teachers.

 

Priority Initiatives

 

1. Bible Study and Topical discussion Church Programs

 

2 Prayer Group and Prayer Chain and Telephone Tree Ministry

 

3.Plan and organize Seminars for Parishioners to share and learn from each other

 

4. Interact with Diocesan Staff for children and families.
