| Liturgy & Celebration
Theology: O give thanks to the Lord, and call upon His Name, tell the people what things He has done (Psalm 105:1). Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart, be always acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer” (Psalm 19:14).
O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, let the whole earth stand in awe of Him (Psalm 96:9). The mission of the Liturgy * To assist the Rector in the smooth functioning of all Church services (physical planning). To facilitate the congregation at worship – Ushering, Lectors reading lessons, Lay Eucharistic Ministers, Altar Guild, Acolytes, the Choir and Sacristan).
* To create a holy and inspirational atmosphere at Worship bearing in mind, Preparation, Responses, Attitudes, Prayers and so on.
* To create and maintain weekly bulletins of Church Services which can be used as a missionary tool – That is “User-Friendly Bulletins” especially on major Sundays in the Year. To established a monthly roster of readers and ensure that the lessons are properly introduced, read and ended in the accepted Episcopal way. To supervise Church decorations and lay out vestments and necessary books for worship.
* To specially instruct Ushers to greet visitors to the Church, ensure that they can follow the Service, make them as comfortable and welcomed as possible and entertain them after Services.
* Ensure that there is always adequate supply of Books of Common Prayer, Hymnals, Bibles, Bulletins, implements and supplies necessary for the smooth running of services.
* To arrange for persons to be inducted into various guilds, groups and associations of the Church.
* Coordinate Liturgical and Celebration Calendar of the Parish.
* With the Rector, oversee rites and ceremonies of the Parish Church.
* The ex officio members of this Committee are presidents of Lay Eucharistic Ministers, the Altar Guild, the Acolytes, Choir Director and any other related person.
* Give full report on the activities of the committee to the monthly Vestry meeting and to the Annual meeting of the Parish. |
