Clement "Elias" Yearwood described as a "gentleman" of the highest order by family and friends was called home to rest on July 2, 2013.
A Funeral Service for Mr. Yearwood will be held at St. Simon the Cyrenian Church, Thursday, July 11th beginning with a wake from 5 - 7 pm and the Funeral Service starting at 7 pm.
Elias was born in Barbados, British West Indies, on July 17, 1928 to the late Clementina Yearwood and Thorald Carrington. He attended St. Joseph's Boy's School. After High School, Elias worked as a mason where he built houses in Barbados. He later lived in Aruba for a few years before emigrating to New Rochelle, NY, in 1957.
Elias was a perfectionist with a strong work ethic. He worked diligently and meticulously as a painter and mason way past the age of retirement.
Elias was a gentleman of pride, class, charisma and charm who liked to look sharp from his head to his toes. He was also very strong headed and not afraid to voice his opinions especially when he thought he was right. Elias' passions included his fish tank, plants, decorating, music, the Mets and cricket where he served as a long time member of the New Rochelle Cricket Club.
Elias was the life of the party. He knew how to have a good time and will be fondly remembered by us all for a long life well and fully lived.
Elias who was predeceased by his brothers Steve Yearwood and Darnel Yearwood; leaves to mourn and cherish his memory his sons David and Ronald and daughters Elizabeth, Jacqueline and Angela; Son-in-law Canute; Sisters Veta and Marvo; brothers Beresford and Everick; uncles Paul and Timothy; Granddaughter Danielle; 4 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
